About Us

The Greece United Methodist Church formed inside School Number 9 on July 25, 1841, when Reverend William Williams met with a group of people to start the church. After another group meeting was held, the church grew to 21 members. The original meeting location was Greece School # 9, located at 1048 Long Pond Road, now a private residence, but the old stone structure still exists. The Greece United Methodist church was built in 1874 at 1924 Maiden Lane.

Over the years, the church and its congregation have grown in size, but the heart is the same: to follow Christ’s footsteps to the best of our ability. We welcomed our current pastor, Gary Kubitz, in July 2021. Since then, we have been actively working to grow in faith within ourselves and outreach to our community to share Christ’s love and acceptance.

In September 2023, our congregation accepted a new Mission Statement that we actively and consciously try to live into as a church, congregation, and child of God.

Share Christ’s love and acceptance; Grow in Faith; Go and Serve!

As part of living into this mission statement, on January 14, 2024, our congregation, with a large percentage, voted to become a church that practices Reconciling Ministry. This is a ministry that is based on the idea of forgiveness and healing. Reconciliation Ministries aims to help people overcome their differences and work together to create a more peaceful and harmonious world. Our reconciling message as a congregation is:

We welcome and affirm all people, including persons of any age, gender, gender identity, gender expression, race, ethnic origin, economic reality, family status, sexual orientation, diverse ability, or social status.

We welcome all to join us in our efforts to achieve greater love, understanding, mutual respect, justice, and peace.

Now that you have read a little about us, we invite you to come and worship with us, experience our church and our congregation… We will have a cup of coffee waiting
