Gary Kubitz

Gary Kubitz Bio

Gary became the pastor at Greece UMC July 1, 2021.  He received his Master of Divinity from Colgate Rochester Crozar Divinity School in Rochester NY in 2015 and was ordained as an Elder in the United Methodist Church in 2017. 

Before coming to Greece, Gary served in appointments in Voorheesville NY, as well as in Afton and Bainbride NY.  He started his working life as a music teacher and taught elementary music for 10 years before answering his call to ministry. 

Gary enjoys, playing Golf, spending time with family and friends, and watching the Buffalo Bills and NY Yankees win. 




Administrative Assistant

Genia Tetreault

Genia began employment with GUMC on April 3,2023. As a lifetime Methodist member, she is familiar with many aspects of the church, having served as a volunteer Sunday School Teacher, Board of Trustees Member and more.

Prior to joining GUMC staff, Genia did volunteer work at a hospital in California and worked in the Hudson Valley area of New York State for over 20 years serving people with developmental disabilities while raising her two sons and earning her associate and bachelor's degrees. She feels fortunate to have been able to live in various states including Kansas, Colorado, Nebraska, Alabama, Wisconsin, California, Montana and most recently back to New York for the second time, affording her the opportunity to be closer to her children and one of her three grandchildren.

Genia enjoys spending free time gardening, doing home improvements and renovations, cooking and baking, reading, and most of all spending time with family, who are spread throughout various states.

 




Coordinator of Music Ministries

Sharon Neary

Sharon joined GUMC in 1986 and started accompanying the choir. She slowly worked her way to directing the children's/bell choir and then became the Associate Director of Music, and subsequently became the Coordinator of Music Ministries. Sharon graduated from Brockport State and Nazareth College with a Degree in Music Education. She recently retired from the Music Department at Greece Olympia High School.




Praise Band Director

Ed Klingenberger

Ed joined the staff January 2016, but grew up in this church - he was even baptized and confirmed at GUMC.

Ed has a Bachelor’s Degree in Music (emphasis in Studio Composition) from SUNY Purchase. He currently teaches private lessons on multiple instruments and is also an Adjunct Professor at Niagara County Community College, where he teaches a class called Rock Ensemble.

Outside of work and church, Ed enjoys writing and recording his own music, board games, baseball, and road trips. 

Random Fact:  Ed's favorite cookie is chocolate chip, after much deliberation.




Organist/Pianist

Rob Klingenberger

Rob became the staff organist/pianist in 2019 after spending approximately ten years as music director of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church. He grew up in GUMC and was active in the music ministry throughout. Outside of church, his other job is to assist School Food Administrators in ensuring their menus qualify for state reimbursement. He has a wife, two cats, three dogs, and a house not big enough to fit everything, but they do their best.

Random Fact: Rob’s favorite cookie is the pair of cookies that holds the ice cream sandwich together. Does this count?




Financial Secretary

Bill Kostyshak

Bill has been Financial Secretary since January 2016.

Bill grew up in Michigan, where he earned his Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering and then an MBA.
After a few moves throughout his career, he settled in the Rochester area about 20 years ago. 

Bill is actively involved in Boy Scouts and enjoys being a Merit Badge Counselor for Citizenship in the Community, Citizenship in the Nation, and Citizenship in the World, American Heritage, and a new Boy Scout Merit Badge -- Signs, Signals and Codes.

Treasurer

Linda Parker

Linda has been the treasurer at Greece UMC for over 25 years

Greece United Methodist Church has been a part of Linda's life since before she could walk.  Her mom told the story of her climbing up the stairs in her little dresses in the old church building when she was just a toddler. 

Linda and her husband Dave enjoy travelling and treasure the times they spend with their family.
